Educate a Woman, Educate a Nation
In Islam both men and women are duty bound to seek education, for the Prophet Muhammad said: “The search for knowledge is a duty on every Muslim.” (Bukhari)
“O Mankind, keep your duty to your Lord who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate (of same kind) and from them twain has spread a multitude of men and women” (Qur’an 4: 1).
A scholar who pondered about this verse states: “It is believed that there is no text, old or new, that deals with the humanity of the woman from all aspects with such amazing brevity, eloquence, depth, and originality as this divine decree.”
Zayed College for Girls
The special character of the school is determined by the faith system made up of the beliefs, values and lifestyles of Islam as embodied in the holy Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammed Sallalahu Alayhe wa Salam as explained by the four Mathhabs: Hanifi, Shafi, Hambali and Maliki.
The purpose of the school is to:
- Support the home and the Islamic community in the transmission of the Islamic faith system (as per the above Special Character) and lifestyle to the young women who attend the school.
- Facilitate the development of a mature and understanding commitment to the beliefs and practices of Islam so that students will become responsible and caring Muslims in the community.
The achievement of these goals is through a comprehensive and unified program involving every aspect of the curriculum and predicated upon:
- The firm faith and perception of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’Ala as creator and Sustainer of the Universe.
- The dependence on guidance from the Holy Quran and Sunnah as per the Special Character Agreement.
- Commitment to the holistic development of the individual – physical, intellectual, spiritual, emotional and social.
Zayed College for Girls – students, staff and school community – recognize the unity of faith we share and that this is reflected in its policies, its structures and the relationships of its members.
The students who attend the College reflect the diversity of our Islamic community, bringing a richness and energy that is exciting.
The majority of students attending Zayed College for Girls come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, sharing many languages between them.
